Memory, Language, and Survival
Food flows through our lives like a river—shaped by history, culture, and personal memory.
Beginning in Shanghai, this book explores the deep connections between food
and identity, using bilingual narratives in Chinese and English to bridge past and present.
Through interviews, workshops, and visual storytelling, I trace how food culture resonates across borders, intertwining my experiences in China and New York City.

Collective memory can become the trigger for apprehension.
As our world faces growing uncertainty—wars, epidemics, and climate crises—food becomes more than nourishment;
 This book is a reflection on how what we eat connects us to our origins, our communities, and an uncertain future.

he accompanying exhibition extends this dialogue into an interactive space,
where video-recorded conversations become spoken performances.
Visitors are encouraged to read these dialogues aloud, transforming written language into a shared auditory experience.
